Chipmunk Cheeks

Well, everything went well...I'm in an extreme amount of pain but I guess that was to be expected. I feel like someone beat my face with a baseball bat and it looks it too. I resemble Theodore the chipmunk per Kaylee (: At least there isn't any bruising..yet. I'm sure as soon as I start to feel better that will show up. Yesterday was pretty much take medicine, sleep, take more medicine and sleep again. Today I attempted chopping up cooked noodles with Italian dressing ans some crab meat. It took me almost an hour to eat what I had filled in one of Saiges bowls. What a waste of time that was. I was hungry again before I was full...if that's possible. My jaw is the worst part, I can only open it a tiny bit...making talking,eating or drinking near impossible. The talking part probably makes Scott happy, however now I just text him a bazillion times a day! Well, that's all I have for now. Time to nap again (;

"Bawk Bawk"

I'm a chicken! LOL...I'm as scared as can be about going under general anesthesia tomorrow! ( I have to have 4 wisdom teeth removed plus 3 others) I feel silly being a Nurse and seeing it everyday but man oh man am I nervous!! Maybe it's because I am a nurse and I have seen people have a hard time coming out that makes me nervous....I don't know but either way I am at home "bawking" until tomorrow! Wish me luck!!

Another year older

The girls were waiting for me when I got home !

Well...I thought I would stop having birthdays @ 25 but they keep creeping up on me! Anyhow...I had a wonderful birthday on Saturday, even though I had to work the majority of the day. Friday night Scott & I went to dinner with the girls. On Saturday the girls @ work ordered in Pizza to celebrate then when I got home Scott & the girls had a beautiful card and a new Lap Top for me!!!! I was super psyched, I had a feeling I was getting one but he out did himself and got one twice as nice as I had picked out!! He loves me and is always trying to make me happy. That night we went to Chelsie & Darren's for Pizza, Wings and Cake. ( It was also Darren's birthday!) I had to be back into work at the crack of dawn Sunday so we were home and in bed before 9pm. It may sound like a typical quiet birthday but it was honestly one of the best I've had. I'm so grateful for all that I have <3

Photo Shoot with Amy Davis

The girls & I met with a woman who does photography sessions out of her home. A friend of mine had a great experience so we thought we would give it a shot. I'm so glad we did because she was wonderful! she was very patient with the girls and it was such a calm, relaxed atmosphere! She continued to snap pictures the entire time we were there, giving me so much to choose from. The price was right and I have the copy right release to all 308 photo's....so I can print what I want, when I want!!! I wish I had gone to her before going last week and spending $200.00 @ JCP on Easter pictures!!! anyhow, I can't wait to go back in a few months and have more done (with Daddy this time ). To see the entire set go to http://photographybyamy.smugmug.com/Client%20Proofs%202009 . We are proof # 398

Theres a light at the end of the tunnel!!!

I'm almost afraid to say this but I think we are over the bug!!! Saige is getting better everyday....we took her back to see the Dr. on Monday b/c she was still having some respiratory difficulty but he said I was basically doing everything he would have recommended anyhow. We'll continue with the Neb treatments when she needs them and he wrote for a 5 day course of Prednisone to help open her up however it is most awful tasting stuff and even the smallest drop causes her to start gagging and eventually she vomits, so I've set that aside and we'll see how she does without it. She is finally starting to eat semi-normal. She drank an entire 6 ounce bottle tonight before bed!!!! We've still got the cool mist humidifier going next to the co-sleeper and I think that's helping a great deal. Speaking of the co-sleeper, I need to take a pic of her in it. She's 7 months and 20lbs - way to big for the mini co-sleeper!! Ha Ha, she looks twice as big laying in it but I'm finding it REALLY HARD to put her in her own room. I like being able to have her right next to me but not in my bed. I can't imagine her being all the way across the hall( ha ha 5 feet)!!! I almost had Scott convinced into buying the original co-sleeper, which is much larger, on Sunday @ BabiesRUs but he nicely said no by asking me why I spent money so much on her crib if I didn't plan on her ever sleeping in it! LoL. I love the co-sleeper and think it was worth every penny!! We have the mini-co sleeper convertible, which is def. a space saver!! It converts to a play yard/pack n play/changing table and has wheels on one end for easy room swapping but we have always just kept it attached to the bed. I highly recommend it for anyone! I wish I would have bought the original, she would of been able to sleep in that thing until she well over one yr but on the down size, it would take up a lot of room. If I think of it, I will have to take a pic of Saige in it so you can see what I'm talking about! Anyhow....I'm hoping we're all on our way to better health....cause by all means we're ready for it!!! (:

Kaylee loves her new Hair Wraps!! She loves wearing her hair like mommy after a bath!

They are so light weight & have a small loop button on the"tail" to keep it in place!!

Saige is finally getting the hang of sitting up!!

Feeling much better!! <3

There was no avoiding it.....

Well, the inevitable happened. Scott started with the Bug yesterday afternoon and it was in full force by evening. I had a good idea I was on my way down the same road....rumbling tummy & all, however I refused to let my Chicken Nachos go to waste so I ate them anyway. Sometime around 11pm I attempted a dose of Pepto Bismol before bed but by 1am I was camped out in the bathroom. I'd take just about any sickness over throwing up. The whole while I couldn't stop thinking about Saige, the poor thing had been going through this for days and there I laid on the bathroom floor complaining about the past 3 hrs!?! Not to mention I'm a grown adult who is aware of why it's happening. I slept on the floor until 6am when I heard Saige wake up, it was then that I opened the medicine cabinet to reach for more Pepto and saw my savior, ZOFRAN!! It was like the gates to Heaven had been opened up and I was saved...lol. I totally forgot that I had some left over from a previous illness. I allowed the small tablet to dissolve slowly, savoring every last bit of it. I made the baby a bottle and finally headed to bed. Luckily Scott was feeling better by the morning b/c someone needed to tend to Kaylee and get her to school again. I woke up somewhere around 11am and felt 50% better. I've yet to eat anything & still have severe doubling over pain but as long as nothings coming up...I can handle it! I am so ready for Spring! I spent the entire day yesterday disinfecting everything...even opened the windows and let the place air out for an hour, and now It feels like it all needs to be done again! I'm praying Kaylee has been able to avoid the whole thing, being that we haven't had a whole lot of close, snuggling contact this week and she's been washing her hands like crazy!! Scott changed every ones sheets this morning and washed all of the girls blankets, I opened up new toothbrushes for everyone and sterilized all of the baby's bottles and Binky's, we've wiped down just about every hard surface possible including light switches and remotes. I'm determined to nip this bug in the butt...NOW!!!

A Mean Ole' Nasty Stomach Bug!!!

Well, it's been yucky start to March but I'm determined it will turn around. Saige has been sick since Sunday. She started vomiting late in the evening and continued throughout Monday evening. Just as that slowed down, it started coming out the other end like water!! She had no appetite and was refusing bottles. She wouldn't drink Pedialyte either so we were giving her water with a medicine dropper...a trick I've learned along the way to prevent dehydration. She was doing okay with at least 30ml per hour and come Tuesday evening she actually ate some oatmeal with applesauce. I thought the "Bug" was on it's way out. She had started a small cough at this time and that was the path of the bug that I knew was going around. It was midnight when I woke up to her throwing up & pooping all at the same time, poor thing was so scared. I knew at this point there would be no way I could keep up with hydrating her if she was going to be losing it from all angles. I got a bag packed, Scott loaded us into the car & off the Emergency Room we went. He had to stay behind to get Kaylee off to school but we were in constant contact through our cell phones. Lucky for us, the waiting room was empty and we were seen right away!! She was negative for the Rota virus, which was my first concern. They tested for the Flu & RSV, which were both negative as well. They drew blood and her WBC count was normal, no infection...her labs were surprisingly within normal range...she wasn't severely dehydrated. They started an IV to give her some fluids and get her feeling better. WHOA, was that a painful experience for her and heartbreaking for me!! She is such a chubby girl that it makes it near impossible to locate a good vein. After 4 pokes and no success we took a much needed break. I cuddled her and she wanted so badly to fall asleep but wouldn't let herself. They tried 2 more times for the IV and thankfully had success with a small needle in the outer portion of her left foot. We wrapped it like crazy to protect it b/c I was not about to let her pull it out!! They ordered a chest X-ray to rule out pneumonia, thinking maybe she had aspirated a small amount while throwing up, that was clear though...showed some congestion but no fluid. Phew...so far we had ruled out everything!! Her right ear did seem slightly red to them but it was hard to tell because she had been crying so hard for a really long time. Around 6:30am I attempted a 4 ounce bottle because I knew she needed to sleep, she had finally drifted off when up came 1/2 of the formula. At that point the ER doctor called our pediatrician and they concluded that we should stay and keep her on the IV fluids. Scott got Kaylee off to school and met us in the ER around 8:45am. It was 9:30am before we got up to our room and 11:00am by the time they had done their assessment and admission stuff. I was exhausted. After only 2 hours of sleep then spending 9 hrs in the ER and watching my innocent baby go through all of that, I was ready to crumble. I laid down while Scott rocked Saige to sleep, we took a much needed 2 hr nap. Scott had made arrangements for Kaylee to go to Gramma Diane's after school ( THANK YOU AGAIN! ) so we were both able to stay with Saige. Saige's doctor came to see us that evening and discontinued the IV fluids, hoping to increase her want to drink, he recommended we stay the night and see how she does. Scott was bummed, he really wanted to stay the night but we didn't want to leave Kaylee either, so when he left at 7:30pm, we turned out the lights and tried to get some sleep. Sleep isn't something that comes easy in a hospital...there were a few other Babies on each side of us that did nothing but scream & cry, the poor things were obviously in far worse shape than Saige. Between the nurses coming in to check on us and me getting up to change her diaper every hour, I think I might have accumulated 2 more hours of sleep!! LoL (: Luckily morning came quickly and Dr. Humphrey came in very early. He said he thought I could handle riding out the remainder of the bug at home and discharged us. Scott got Kaylee off to school and came to get us. She still has the diarrhea and has thrown up twice but it at least drinking 2 ounces bottles. Her cough is upper airway related and aggravates her gag reflex, which is why I think she threw up the last 2 times. We're now home and she is getting some sleep, so hopefully she will start to feel better by the weekend. I on the other hand have became an emotional wreck upon getting home. LoL. Sitting here looking at her sleep, she's so beautiful. It breaks my heart that she had to go through all that, as a parent I felt so helpless. As a nurse I deal with so much everyday, but man o' man is it different when it's "your baby". During all the tests and procedures I was the strong Mommy she needed me to be but once we got home, I couldn't help but break down and sob like a baby. It's never easy to see your children hurt or sick and I think our family has had enough for quite awhile!! (:

Diamond Studs for the Princess

Well, Saige is now a true girly girl! We had her ears pierced on Saturday evening while we were out shopping. I almost backed out last minute but Scott took control of the situation and sat right down in the chair, placed her on his lap and was ready to rock. Had I been alone @ the mall her little ears would probably still be naked. It took me three trips to the mall when Kaylee was her age before I actually went through with the piercing, she was 14 months @ the time. Saige was a trooper, she flinched and cried for about 5 seconds , then smiled and giggled at us!! I was nervous for nothing, as usual!! (: She looks like a completely different baby now....they are so cute! I initially wanted her birthstone but went with 14kt white gold diamond studs...they will match more than the birthstone would of. Now Daddy has 3 girls to buy jewelry for, the people @ JBR just love to see him coming!! (: <3
